The higher professional examination HPE is a tertiary-level education program in the Swiss education system. With this degree you will belong to the experts of our professional world and bear the protected title of “Consultant in the psychosocial field with federal diploma”. Registration exam 2026
You can register for the HPE as an SGfB member or via Sur Dossier. The advantage of registering as an active member is that you are exempt from 2 (out of a total of 4) parts of the examination. Please note the detailed information in the guidelines from 2026 (coming soon), which are relevant for registration.

The registration must be complete (upload all details and documents –>please refer to “Admission”) and submitted by the deadline
by Sunday, May 3, 2026.
From May 25, you will be asked to upload your written exam parts (PT1 and PT2) by Monday, June 28, 2026 (portal closes).
After the application deadline, the examination board will examine the dossiers with regard to the fulfillment of the admission criteria. The admission decision will be sent by e-mail.
At the latest four weeks before the examination, the invitation will be sent out. This contains information about the place and time of the examination, the aids permitted and to be brought along, as well as the assessment criteria for the examination parts.
The examinations will take place in Olten from September 8 to 11, 2026 .
Exam repetitions (repeaters)
For candidates who passed the first examination in 2023 or earlier and now have to repeat parts of the examination, the examination will be conducted in accordance with Examination Regulations 6.43 under the same conditions as for the first examination.
The examination regulations of 13.12.2017 and the guidelines of 10.05.2017 as well as the corresponding assessment forms of the first examination year are decisive for this (see examination structure). The forms Form 3.3 Enumeration and Form 3.3 Reflection can, but do not have to be used, as they refer to the new guidelines dated 14.11.2023.
Candidates who have passed the first examination in 2025 can register for repetition directly via their existing profile on our platform.
Costs
The examination costs of CHF 4,600.00 for 4 parts of the examination or CHF 2,300.00 for 2 parts of the examination (excl. CHF 800.00 registration fee) are to be paid by the examination candidates. The fees for repeating subjects can be found in the guidelines section 2.2.
You can pay the invoices for the registration and examination fees directly via your profile on the platform (online) or download the invoice.
The fees cover the admission procedure, the organization of the examinations, as well as the issuing, registration and awarding of the diplomas.
The registration fee will not be refunded in case of cancellation.
Any expenses for travel, accommodation and meals are to be borne by the examination candidates.

- The federal examination must be passed
- Residence in Switzerland
- Refund 50% of the course costs max. 10’500.- ; this corresponds to course costs of CHF 21’000.-
- max. 7 years after the start of training
Right to inspect files / appeal meetings
- If the candidate fails the examination, he/she has the right to inspect the files of the failed parts of the examination.
- The PF recommends that such a discussion be held in order to determine the current situation and further development.

Diploma Ceremony
Invitation will be issued after passing the exam.
